HostBaby Offsets 39 Tons of C02 Emissions

Carbon Free Partner 2013 FinalAs part of our ongoing efforts to run a sustainable business, HostBaby has offset 39 tons of CO2 emissions based on HostBaby’s energy use in 2012. Not only is this our third year offsetting emissions, but it’s our largest contribution to date.

What does this mean? Well basically, we measured the carbon production of our web servers and calculated the energy use of employees. We then used Carbonfund.org’s calculator to estimate the environmental cost. We then donated that money towards carbon-reducing projects such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation projects.

HostBaby is already a paperless company (no paper bills, no catalogs, no snail mail) and we have a robust recycling program. (You can hardly walk down the hallway without tripping over a recycling bin).

We all care about our planet. And now you know, when you host your website with HostBaby, we’re doing our best to stay carbon neutral and support our environment.

We’re always looking to expand our green initiatives, so if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments below.

  • I would like to place a badge or some such on the main page of my website announcing affiliation with Hostbaby. I am a musician and sustainable agriculture student; host baby customer. Do you have any cool badges with the carbon free/hoat baby logo? Great job on sustainability guys!

  • Not a bad idea Derek. Unfortunately, we do not have a logo like that. Maybe we can do something like that down the road. Good suggestion!
